While in the area for a few days, this pub was recommended. The food on the 2 nights we were there was delicious. There is a special 2 course on offer which had plenty of choice. The main menu had a wide variety of food also. They are doing a great job. The food was a very high standard and very reasonably priced as were the drinks. It seems to have very good local support also. Would highly recommend it!

Great little pub and restaurant. The restaurant is of nice size and the public bar is cosy like a proper local, outside is nicely laid out with masses of space and even a fenced in play area for the children. Burger and chips wow! It was like eating half a cow.

2 star ratingNice re vamp but menu and service was not Nice revamp, but service and food no longer great.

First visit in a year (was regular visitors before).

I still think about the french onion soup that was on the menu years ago as it was delicious.

Anyway....

First i will start with the positives

the revamp of the restaurant and garden was lovely., very clean.

The young waitress was friendly.

Table was booked for 7.pm but because we were waiting for others to arrive we didnt get im the restaurant until around 8.15 they didnt seem to mined as the restaurant was empty.

Now the reasons why i gave 2*

The waitress took our order. 3white bait, 1 steak, 2 kids pizza, prawn cocktail, chicken wings, ceaser salad, steak, 2 fish and chips, All to come out together.

After about an 1hour and 10mins our food started to arrive. I would have thought the kids pizzas would have come out first, but we had to wait 15 20 mins for them to come out after the adults food has arrived.

The pizza wasnt very appitising, and one plate had 4 chips on.

The ceaser salad was..... Ridiculous. £11 somthing because i added chicken. Hardly any dressing just lettuce and sprinkle of crumbed stuff, i had to ask for more dressing and crumbs. I could have got a better one in a tesco meal deal, i probably wouldnt have had that reaction if it had been £5...

Also our whitebate didnt come out, we had to let the waitress know and when it did we got 2, did order 3. We waited longer for the 3rd.

The rest of the food was ok. But no one came to check on us for a long time

When i told the waitress i was disappointed in my meal she said she could take the service charge off..... I didnt expect there to be a service charge. I then said can i have my salad taken off.

She said ok .

When it came time to pay i ask if i could have the service charge to be £5 not £10.

The lady didnt apologiese for the meal and the wait time

Sadly me and my family will not be returning, i do think the menu should be looked at and prices should be altered for certain items..

1 star ratingAwful experience, Upon entering the patio, there was a hand gel with a QR code, at no point were we

checked or asked if we had checked into the app.We thought someone would come over, but all throughout the meal , we didn't see staff members other than the young girl and her colleague which took our payment.

Pleasant surroundings, we sat outside looking forward to a nice lunch.

were served by a young girl who was left alone to manage tables outside. She has no support or basic training, upon asking her, she commented it was her second shift.

We ordered beers which were served with absolutely dirty stained glasses.

Asked for them to be replaced with clean ones.

There were about three tables with people mainly drinking.

For starter i had the vegetarian starter haloumi skewers with tzasiki dip which was average. My friend had a butternut squash vegetarian skewers with what was suppose to be a pineapple dip/sauce, it was very hot, she coudn't eat it, upon letting the girl know, she confirmed it was a pineapple sauce.

My main was a homemade vegetarian pie with mash and vegetables,

the pie was well done on the surface and pastry was uncooked, the mash was

quite firm and not as soft and fluffy. The vegetables were okay as was the veg. gravy. My friend had veg. fried haloumi with chips, quite soft instead of crspy.

for Deset i had the creme brulee which could have tasted amazing had the top been crispy, it was nice in taste.

Upon asking how was my meal, i pointed out the pie crus was not cooked, i was expecting a manager to apologise or provide reason.

We received no apology or were offered a refund.

The pub wasnt busy at all, it was virtually empty, 30% covers at the least.

Management need to train up staff and ensure COVID measures are maintained at all times.I definately will not be returning here.
